Statement Regarding Reclassification of 1-Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone and Ongoing Independent Reviews
iGM Resins would like to address the recent discussions regarding the reclassification of 1-Hydroxycyclohexyl-phenyl ketone (Omnirad 184) and to clarify its position following the latest scientific dialogues with stakeholders and industry experts.
As the Lead Registrant under REACH, iGM Resins has always acted in full compliance with regulatory requirements and scientific best practice. The company based its original self-classification of Omnirad 184 on an extensive data package conducted at leading GLP-certified laboratories and follow-up assessments by independent international toxicology consultants.
During recent exchanges among toxicologists and stakeholders, different interpretations of the same data have emerged, highlighting that this remains a highly technical scientific discussion.
In light of these differing expert views, and in the spirit of transparency and scientific rigor, iGM Resins has decided to withdraw its current self-classification (Reprotoxic 1B).
Until further clarity is reached through ongoing and additional independent reviews, the classification will remain temporarily as it was before the reclassification of 29 August 2025. This step allows all available data and expert perspectives to be objectively reassessed, ensuring that any future classification reflects a balanced, evidence-based consensus.
iGM Resins emphasizes that its previous actions were guided solely by scientific evidence and regulatory obligations. The company continues to be fully committed to working constructively with authorities, industry associations, and scientific experts to ensure alignment based on robust and transparent science.
