New Omnipol® BL 582: Expanding the Glyoxylate Family with a Polymeric and High-Performance photoinitiator

At iGM Resins, we are committed to developing technology platforms that anticipate industry needs and deliver lasting value for our customers. The new aromatic glyoxylate platform is a clear example of this vision.

From the early stages, we imagined the design of a new glyoxylate chemistry with three reference products: one cornerstone photoinitiator, one polymeric, and one self-curable, to form a complete family. In 2024, we introduced Esacure® 563, the first photoinitiator of this family, designed to bring low yellowing performance to LED applications.

Today, we are proud to announce the second step in this journey: Omnipol® BL 582, a polymeric aromatic glyoxylate designed for food packaging and other sensitive applications. And this is only the beginning, the third member of this family, a self-curable glyoxylate, will soon follow, completing this pioneering launch program.

What makes Omnipol® BL 582 unique?

Omnipol® BL 582 is a polymeric Type II photoinitiator then, no cleavage products are expected as outcome of UV irradiation, adding a safety step more. It has been developed on iGM’s proprietary glyoxylate technology, offering a set of performance advantages that address some of the most pressing challenges in UV curing:

  • Dual curing: effective with both LED and mercury lamps
  • CMR-free composition for safer formulations
  • Low yellowing and low odour for clear and aesthetic results
  • Indirect food contact compliant, making it ideal for food and sensitive packaging
  • Liquid and pourable, ensuring easy handling and faster production cycles
  • High stability blend with shelf life up to 12 months
  • High reactivity for both clear coatings and inks
  • Strong surface curing
  • Polymeric alternative to Alpha Amino Ketones, with comparable reactivity but significantly reduced yellowing

Designed for today’s and tomorrow’s needs

Omnipol® BL 582 is more than a new product; it is a step forward in polymeric, more versatile UV curing. By leveraging iGM Resins' patented aromatic glyoxylate chemistry, it brings the benefits of polymeric design to applications where low migration, low odour, and high reactivity are critical.

For formulators working on food packaging, low yellowing coatings, and LED or mercury dual-cure systems, Omnipol® BL 582 offers a modern solution that meets performance demands while aligning with increasing regulatory and sustainability requirements.

Shaping the Future of UV Curing with the Glyoxylate Platform

This three-step launch underlines iGM Resins' commitment to reshaping the future of photoinitiators with a polymeric, high-performance foundation. In summary, the glyoxylate platform marks a new chapter for UV curing, combining low yellowing, dual-curing flexibility, and food packaging compliance.

Omnipol® BL 582, as the polymeric member of this family, delivers high reactivity and ease of handling for both coatings and inks. Together with Esacure® 563 and the upcoming self-curable glyoxylate, this launch sets a strong foundation for safer, more versatile formulations.

Want to check back more about our first member of the Glyoxylate family, Esacure® 563?

As part of our ongoing journey, Esacure® 563 was the first photoinitiator launched in the glyoxylate family. It is a difunctional Type II photoinitiator offering one of the lowest yellowing profiles for LED, with strong surface and through cure, good solubility, and optimum performance in combination with amines.
