Investing in Sustainability: iGM Resins Mortara's New Cryogenic Nitrogen Plant

As part of our ongoing investment in our Mortara (MRT) site in Italy, we are proud to announce the installation of a new liquid nitrogen plant. This strategic development underscores our dedication to reducing environmental impact while enhancing our operational capabilities.

Reducing CO2 Emissions Through On-Site Production

Nitrogen is used in the production process either for drying or for inertization and flushing of lines and equipment, as a combustion inhibitor, and for fire/explosion prevention. By producing cryogenic nitrogen on-site, we ensure a reliable and sustainable supply for these essential applications while reducing our carbon footprint.

Each year, hundreds of trucks transport liquid nitrogen to our Mortara facility, leading to a substantial amount of CO2 emissions. To address this, we have partnered with Nippon Gas for the installation of a state-of-the-art cryogenic plant that will enable self-production of cryogenic nitrogen. Properly scaled to match our consumption needs, this plant will eliminate the need for truck deliveries, significantly reducing emissions and improving overall efficiency.

Advanced Monitoring and Future Sustainability Initiatives

The new cryogenic nitrogen plant will be constantly monitored by a central control room based in Milan, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Additionally, we are exploring the integration of photovoltaic energy solutions at our Mortara site. This potential investment in renewable energy will further enhance our sustainability efforts by reducing overall energy consumption.
