ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
-Design new or modified chemical related equipment and processes. Provides detailed engineering analysis and calculations to evaluate new equipment and processes.
-Write detailed CAPEX document to request funds for capital projects. Provides financial justification for capital equipment and cost-benefit analysis.
-Coordinates with vendors to design and cost structure, equipment, and instrumentation.
-Manage outside contractors and in-house maintenance teams as needed to complete project work.  
-Supervise construction and installation projects, including plant equipment, instrumentation, and structural as needed.
-Provide documentation for the IGM MOC database and lead completion of the MOC, PSSR, and PHAs, where applicable.
-Participate in PHAs and PSSRs where applicable.
-Troubleshoot new and existing equipment and processes.
-Provide documentation and assist Operations with training and work instructions for new or modified manufacturing processes. Writes and updates work procedures as needed.
-Works directly with Operations to develop and improve plant processes.
-Identify opportunities and changes that will improve products, processes or reduce costs and provide feedback to supervisors and management.  
-Collaborates with Production, Maintenance, and R&D 
-Follows all plant safety rules. Adheres to applicable EPA regulations for proper labeling and disposal of chemical compounds and waste.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or combination of education, technical certifications, training and /or work experience. 
-Minimum of 10 years of experience in project engineering and small (<$1,000,000) capital projects in a chemical manufacturing environment.
-Word processing, spreadsheet software, AutoCad.

COMPETENCIES
-Strong communication and organizational skills    
-Ability to perform higher level math skills involving various detailed engineering and statistical calculations
-Experience in major and minor process equipment design, selection, commissioning, and start-up (heat exchangers, pumps, reactors, relief devices)
-Experience in designing and executing projects 
-Must be self-motivated and goal-oriented with proven success working independently and in an multi-functional team environment.
-Able to manage multiple projects 
-Experience in batch chemical manufacturing
